Wirtualdb's Digital Tech Sessions end with a good reception

After several events in the cities of Madrid and Barcelona, Wirtualdb's Digital Tech Sessions come to an end with a successful turnout. The organizers of the technology sessions demonstrated the application of wirtualdb in different use cases such as marketing and sales, replenishment business model automation and operations efficiency.

According to Guillem Pérez, CEO of Wirtualdb, the development of this new technology stems from the need to manage the enormous growth of data available to companies today. «We have a lot of information, and it is distributed in organizations in a dispersed way. That's why we need this information to be personalized, with traceability,» says the company's president.

Where does all this data come from? Thanks to the digitalization and the rise of the Internet, each person leaves a digital trail in different places, which companies have to manage. The difficult part, at this point, is deciding which system companies will use to read and understand this data in a standardized way.

In this context, Wirtualdb is the beginning to start with the digital transformation in companies, standardizing and mapping the necessary information to then create new business applications. The important thing is, according to Guillem Pérez, that many companies have invested heavily in their infrastructures, which must continue to function in the same way. In this sense, the new digital strategies must coexist with the existing ecosystem.e, so that both complement each other.

According to Pedro Melendo, Director of Operations, Wirtualdb's proposal is to preserve the traditional business model of the companies, implementing a new digitalized model without giving up the old one. In this way, it is possible to take advantage of the information from the old model. Wirtualdb's proposal consists in creating a new layer of virtualization The data management system must be flexible, so that companies can choose what data will be digitized and how it will be organized.

Why is Wirtualdb different?

According to Pedro Melendo, the development of Wirtualdb has been a novelty in the market because, although there are more operators offering solutions for managing large volumes of data, there is a big difference: Wirtualdb also provides context information.

Why is context important when managing large volumes of data? Each node (also called field) in addition to containing the important data about the company and its activity, also provides algorithmic information about the expiration date of this data, which user has permit to access this data and information semantics to know what type of data is involved.

In short, Wirtualdb allows users to access information stored in different nodes in real time, providing up-to-date contextual information at the time it is needed. The speakers announced at the last Digital Tech Sessions that, in addition to all the information already offered by this new technology, as of 2016 it will also feature a alarm system. In this way, users can be reminded of the information stored in each of the nodes of the system.

Another major difference with respect to other operators is offered by Miguel Viana, Aquitecto and CTEO of Wirtualdb: «No matter how much data a company manages, we have found that the speed remains the same. In this sense, this new technology makes it possible to work with millions of data in real time without having to worry about the speed or effectiveness of the processes.

How Wirtualdb is being applied in companies

According to Ángel Zaballos, Marketing and Sales specialist, there are currently several sectors in which Wirtualdb technology has been implemented. At Marketing, For example, it is used to trace the actions that a customer takes and what their preferences are. Thanks to the rise of social networks, there is a lot of information scattered on the Internet, which can be managed to better understand those users who are part of the company's target audience.

In addition, thanks to the traceability offered by Wirtualdb, it is possible to know, for example, which are the best-selling products in all the franchises of a retail company in real time. In this way, valuable conclusions can be drawn with very little data. Angel Zaballos sums it up: «We are a sniper, We search through the vast amount of data we handle and arrive at what we are interested in. This method is particularly effective in marketing, since it is possible to know if a campaign is working immediately and to make the decision to stop it when it is not working properly.

The other major sector where Wirtualdb's technology is being applied is the so-called IoT (the internet of things). Thanks to data storage in the cloud, it is possible to manage stock and know when a product needs to be replenished. It is best to explain it with an example: Thanks to a sensor installed in a smart coffee machine, companies can know when to replenish the coffee supply in bars and hotels. It's not science fiction, this method is already being used thanks to the virtualization of large amounts of data.

What professionals said at the Digital Tech Sessions

In addition to technical issues, some of the questions that most concerned the professionals who attended the conference were, if Wirtualdb was designed for small and medium sized companies.

According to the latest report of the Ministry of Industry, In Spain, 99% of companies are SMEs. With this overwhelming percentage, we can understand that the main concern for the country's entrepreneurs is how new technologies can be adapted to the operation of small and medium-sized companies. In this sense, Guillem Pérez pointed out that this new technology can act in a company regardless of size, The important thing, according to Wirtualdb's CEO, is for the company to be clear about what type of business it is. The important thing, according to Wirtualdb's CEO, is for the company to be clear about what type of investment is willing to carry out, taking into account that it does not matter the volume of data it handles but the number of nodes (or fields) it needs.

Another of the most frequently asked questions regarding its use is related to the sectors to which it could be applied. We were talking about the marketing or IoT sectors, but the best thing about this technology, according to its creators, is that can be applied to any sector business, as its system is totally cross-cutting.
