«The digital world calls for new rules and new business models.”

Guillem Perez, CEO of Zemsania
Zemsania is a company dedicated to offering services and solutions in the technological world. We spoke with its CEO, Guillem Pérez, to learn more about the work of its most recent business division: Digital Business Transformation.

How would you define Zemsania?

Zemsania is a multinational company present in eight countries that since 2003 has been dedicated to providing its clients with innovative solutions and services in the field of technology. We currently have a team of 900 people and we are present in various sectors, from information technology to telecommunications and industry. With this structure and the talent we manage, we work to act as a reference partner for a portfolio of clients made up of consultants, integrators and manufacturers.

And in this context, the DBT division was born. What does it consist of?

This is a service that aims to help our clients and companies to move towards the digital transformation of their information systems in order to respond, in this way, to a process that is leading to new business models. To this end, we work by offering solutions based on the incorporation of market technologies of proven solvency and also by developing our own.

Through three axes...

Our approach is based on solutions articulated around what is known as the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data and analytics tools and, finally, on the architecture of cloud systems. We firmly believe that the transformation of the economy towards the digital world is based on the sum of these three elements, which are the ones that make up our DBT division.

How are these changes perceived?

Everything is based on a new paradigm that begins with the assumption that information systems are already omnichannel. Everything is connected to the network and this is an unstoppable process that means that information reaches us through an increasing number of channels, in the same way that we already assume the importance of social media when it comes to knowing the public's opinion of a brand or company or managing online reputation. Big data, on the other hand, offers us a large amount of real-time data that we must be able to take advantage of to make decisions at the moment. Decisions, moreover, that have an impact on business efficiency and the optimization of results. Cloud architectures offer us a way for organizations to be connected and more open in a market that is increasingly global, with new rules of the game and new players.

New markets, new rules?

New ways of doing things, yes. We must be able to structure new ways of doing things and understand that new information systems imply a paradigm shift. This new reality of the connected world and the large volume of information must allow us, and that is what we do at Zemsania, to have tools that facilitate the automation of certain business rules through, for example, the creation of predictive algorithms that make the organization react immediately according to the new information systems.
of the user's or potential buyer's behavior. In a way, it is a way to automate decision making based on the potential offered by technology in terms of predictive analytics and real-time traceability to dynamically personalize what we offer based on the consumer's profile.

What does Zemsania propose to help articulate that change?

This new model means that companies must create a strategic plan that is committed to innovation. And that innovation can be incremental or disruptive. The former consists of making technology improve the organization to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness in the processes it carries out. I am thinking, for example, of launching new services or improving those already being offered. Disruptive innovation, on the other hand, involves the creation of something new, whether it is a business model (Google or Facebook are good examples), a product, a different service... In our case, in addition to betting on consolidated technology and the development of our own, we have established alliances with partners that have helped us to participate in advanced projects in areas such as smart cities, energy efficiency, digital marketing or what is known as dynamic pricing. In the latter case, we see an application of what I mentioned before: the customization of a series of rules that make the price of a product vary depending on whether or not a series of conditions are met. This, applied to a specific business, is a model of disruptive innovation.

A new solution to a new problem...

At Zemsania we have the technological capacity to make these tools available to our clients and also accompany them in the design, consulting and development phase of a project that is normally handled by an integrator. Today technology makes possible what was not possible before and we must take advantage of it to offer real solutions that are adapted to this new digital reality that has already arrived and that demands new business models.
