After several months of negotiations, the merger between TIGO (Millicom International Cellular S.A.) and UNE Telecomunicaciones has finally been closed. The agreement to negotiate the merger was signed last summer 2014 and the objective of the merger was to compete with Claro and Movistar in the telecommunications market.
For the time being, the two companies will continue to operate as two separate companies on the public side, but together on the operational side (sharing networks and market knowledge).
