First, we must explore how these changes will affect professionals. Will the sense of identity The freelance sector will grow and the permanence in a single company will decrease. In addition, the flexibility will become standardized in work environments and workers will demand a balanced combination of private life and work.

  • Quality of life. The new generations will prioritize happiness over their careers. Therefore, companies will strive to ensure their loyalty by adding green spaces at work and integrating adapted furniture, among other things.
  • Flexibility and teleworking. Working hours will be reconfigured and will no longer be immutable. In addition, one-third of companies will have a 50% workforce of remote employees.
  • Independence. Professionals will uproot themselves from companies by opting for the freelance model. In this sense, more than 50% of professionals in the United Kingdom and the United States will work independently.
  • Coworking. The physical spaces of companies or offices will be reduced by 50% and the number of shared workspaces will increase.

Technology

The Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Assistants will change work by 2025. In fact, the study reveals that by 2025 most administrative jobs will disappear.

  • AI. AI will offer a more personalized, dynamic and intuitive service. In addition, it will continue to perform repetitive, structured and systematic tasks.
  • Intelligent Assistants. AI will be applied to the day-to-day life of workers. Some daily tasks will be automated and streamlined. For example, this assistant will detect if there is too much traffic to get to the workplace and, if it foresees delays, it will provide the employee with all the tools he or she needs to work from home. The study even talks about holographic receptionists.
  • Weareables. Employees will be able to have devices that monitor their position and health status in case of danger to ensure their integrity. Thus, in the event of an accident, an emergency signal would be sent automatically.
  • Cybersecurity. Massive data generation will require encryption to ensure employee privacy. Devices will constantly verify the identity of their users to avoid cyber-attacks. Factors such as biometrics, geolocation or even the way of typing will be analyzed for this purpose.

Work environments

Working environments must adapt to technological changes and to the needs of new professionals. In addition, the evolution of the economy must also be taken into account, so collaboration between companies and sectors will be strengthened.

  • Intelligent environments. The work environments will automatically regulate light output, thermostat and air conditioning. In addition, analysis of company schedules will enable the AI to inform workers which spaces are available.
  • Online meetings. The rise of telecommuting will make online meetings essential. Virtual Reality could turn the environments of these meetings into forests or beaches, for example. In addition, each user will be represented by an avatar, simulated by several 3D cameras. The software will make it possible to create sketches and much more using only hand movements.
  • Business metamorphosis. Most companies will change completely by 2025. According to Fujitsu surveys of executive profiles, more than half expect their organizations to change in 5 years, while 75% expect the industry they operate in to change its infrastructure. They also expect to invest more in creating services than products.
  • Cooperation between sectors. By 2025, it is expected that different types of services will be combined. For example, intelligent vehicles will be implemented in sectors such as logistics.

Generations and demographic changes

Demographic changes will alter the professional structure of companies. Work in 2025 will be altered because of the mix of individuals from different generations working together. What PAC calls the Generation Fusion, made up of Xennials, Generation Z and Millenials. Digital natives and the last generation that remembers a world without Internet will share the work environment.

  • Millennial Generation. In 2025 it will occupy 50% of the working world. Those born between 1980 and 2000 demand immediate access to information, a fundamental tool for their work.
  • Generation Z. Will form the 20% of the global workforce. Those born between 2000 and 2009 have grown up in an era of constant change. Gamification will be a key methodology in their training processes.
  • Professional aging. Professionals will work into their 65s or 70s, so 84% of organizations believe it is important to offer work flexibility to keep the most experienced and aging workers in the economy. Veteran professionals are critical to master digital tools created in the 1980s or 1990s that are still relevant today.

As we can see, big changes are coming that will change the way we understand work. The coexistence of different generations and technological immersion will be the contextual framework of 2025, and companies will have to adapt and keep up with these new processes. The most important thing will undoubtedly be to try to adapt work to all the different types of individuals so that loyalty does not disintegrate in an extremely competitive and independent professional environment.
